Joplin Parents as Teachers is a free program offered through Joplin Schools that aims to support parents in their role as their child’s first and most important teacher. Families are eligible for Parents as Teachers services from the time they are expecting an infant, until that child starts kindergarten. Services offered include monthly in-home Parent Educator visits, annual developmental screenings, resources, and opportunities for group connections.

Want to read with Dolly?
We are excited to share Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library with Joplin’s little ones! Children from birth to age five are eligible for the program, which sends one free, age-appropriate book per month to enrolled children. Parents can enroll their children here. Joplin Schools does not distribute the books, but we are proud to share the news of free, high-quality books to all of our littlest Eagles!
Ready, Set, EAGLES!
Do you have a child who will attend Kindergarten in the 2025-26 school year? Schedule pre-Kindergarten home visits! These special preschool visits help boost the developmental and social-emotional skills needed to succeed in school. Parent Educators offer in-home ideas and activities to help make it a smooth transition for the whole family.
