Parents As Teachers

Joplin Parents as Teachers

A round logo with the words "parents as teachers" in red and sky blue at the top, and "Missouri Curriculum Partner" in navy on the bottom. The center of the circle is a stylized graphic of a parent holding a child close, in purple and sky blue.

Joplin Parents as Teachers is a free program offered through Joplin Schools that aims to support parents in their role as their child’s first and most important teacher. Families are eligible for Parents as Teachers services from the time they are expecting an infant, until that child starts kindergarten. Services offered include monthly in-home Parent Educator visits, annual developmental screenings, resources, and opportunities for group connections.

We are excited to share Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library with Joplin’s little ones! Children from birth to age five are eligible for the program, which sends one free, age-appropriate book per month to enrolled children. Parents can enroll their children here. Joplin Schools does not distribute the books, but we are proud to share the news of free, high-quality books to all of our littlest Eagles!
